Barbara Allen, M.D. USAP Bio

Barbara Allen, M.D., is the Director of Professional Review for Greater Colorado Anesthesia (GCA) and serves on the Quality Management and Peri-operative Surgical Home Committees. She began her medical practice with Metro Denver Anesthesia in 1991 and was with Colorado Anesthesia Consultants (CAC) when it merged to become GCA in 2012.

Dr. Allen currently serves as Director of Anesthesia on the Board of Directors for Operation Walk Denver. Together with three other physicians, she founded Mending Faces, a cleft lip / cleft palate reconstruction medical mission in the Philippines, and served on the Board of Directors. Dr. Allen has participated in 28 Volunteer Medical Missions in South East Asia and Central America and served on the Metro Denver Anesthesia Board of Directors as well as the Board of Directors for GCA.

She previously served as Anesthesia Director for Kidney Stone Center of the Rocky Mountains; Chair of the Department of Anesthesia at Presbyterian / St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, and as the CAC/GCA Anesthesia Team Leader at Porter Adventist Hospital.

Dr. Allen served in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corp while earning her Doctorate of Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine, during her Internship in Internal Medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and throughout her Residency in Anesthesia at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She earned two Bachelor’s degrees: one in Chemistry from Miami University and one in Health Science from Case Western Reserve University.
