About Me
I am a physician anesthesiologist. I’ve practiced in Washington, New Zealand, and Idaho. I’ve helped start a liver transplant surgery program, which is now ranked by outcomes to be one of the top programs in the United States. I specialize, in addition to transplant, in complex neurosurgical anesthesia and thoracic surgery. I also helped build an acute pain service at Swedish Medical Center. I am presently the director of that pain service. In New Zealand I also worked as an intensive care physician. I’ve also worked in two major trauma centers in two different countries.

Away from work, I enjoy running. I love to ski with my wife and daughter, as well as play basketball and soccer with them. We rock climb and play volleyball together. I am an ultramarathon runner, having competed in about 50 races. You can often find me out running on mountain trails with my dogs.

Areas of Clinical Interests
Postsurgical pain management, I am presently involved in publishing studies for advances in pain management. I also regularly participate in helping advance our liver transplant program.
